Bala is currently the Chief Digital Officer of Best Buy Company, Inc., a specialty retailer of consumer electronics, personal computers, entertainment software and appliances, where he is responsible for Best Buy Digital Organization, including technology strategy, various growth initiatives and the product teams that support the companys 6 billion eCommerce business. Prior to that, Bala served as the Chief Technology Officer of Best Buy from 2012 to 2017. From 2008 to 2012, Bala served as Vice President, Technology Strategy and Enterprise Architecture of TMobile USA, Inc., one of the largest providers of wireless voice and data communications services in the United States. He held various leadership and technology strategist roles at TMobile from 2000 to 2008, including Senior Director, Systems Engineering Strategy. During his time at TMobile, Bala was responsible for all aspects of architecture and technology strategy for the company. Prior to 2000, Bala held various positions at Omnipoint Communications Services, Inc., Ericsson, Inc. and DSC Communications, Inc. Bala holds an MBA from The Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, an MS from the University of Oklahoma and a Bachelor of Engineering from University of Madras. since 2018.
