Mr. Thomas A. Saunders, III, is Lead Independent Director of Dollar Tree Inc. He was the President of Ivor Co., LLC, a private investment company, since 2000. He was a founder of Saunders Karp Megrue Partners, L.L.C., which controlled the SK Equity Fund, L.P., once a major investor in Dollar Tree. SKM merged with Apax Partners in 2005. Before founding SKM in 1990, he was a Managing Director of Morgan Stanley Co. from 1974 to 1989. Mr. Saunders is the recipient of the 2008 National Humanities Medal and a recipient of the highest awards bestowed by the Marine Corporationration University Foundation, the NewYork Historical Society, the Virginia Military Institute and the Darden Graduate School of Business at the University of Virginia. Mr. Saunders brings to the Board valuable financial expertise, including extensive experience in investment banking and a solid understanding of the capital markets. As a company director for twentyfour years and lead independent director for the past ten years, Mr. Saunders also brings to the Board critical leadership skills and a deep understanding of our business. Mr. Saunders was a Dollar Tree director since 1993. He previously served on the Board of Hibbett Sports, Inc. from 1995 to 2016 and served on the Board of Teavana Holdings, Inc. from 2011 to 2012. since 2019.
