Mr. Emil Salim serves as Vice President Commissioner, Independent Commissioner of PT Surya Semesta Internusa Tbk since January 5, 2016. He holds Doctorate in Philosophy in Economics from University of California, Berkeley. He started his career as a lecturer at the Faculty of Economics, University of Indonesia, in 1956 and since 1975, he served as Professor of the Faculty of Economics, University of Indonesia. He was subsequently appointed as Minister of State for Administrative Reform, and Vice Chairman of the National Planning Council, Minister of Transport, Communications and Tourism in, Minister for Development Supervision and the Environment, Minister for Population and Environment, member of the Presidential Advisory Council as the adviser for environment and sustainable development issues, and member of the Presidential Advisory Council as the adviser for environment and economic issues . He also serves as Chairman of the Environmental Science Postgraduate Program Lecturers Peer Group at the University of Indonesia, as well as Lecturer at University of Indonesia Economic Faculty. since 2016.
